After checking in with the receptionist, you will be escorted to one of the exam rooms. For your convenience, a patient questionnaire concerning your past medical history and details of your present complaint can be filled out prior to the office appointment. This will expedite your office visit. A physician’s assistant, in conjunction with one of our physicians, may examine you and review your medical history and your current problem. At the completion of the examination, any appropriate prescriptions will be given to you, as well as any associated therapies that our physicians may prescribe.
We are transitioning to an all electronic system. A doctor may bring in a scribe or iPad and dictate your instructions and you will receive all scripts as you are leaving the practice.
Dr. McLaughlin, Dr. Shah, Dr. Joseffer, or Dr. Qureshi do not provide narcotic medication prescriptions unless you have recently undergone surgery or are scheduled for surgery in the near future. All other narcotic prescriptions must be filled by your primary care physician. Any prescriptions and authorizations for renewal that have been given to you by one of our physicians should be requested during regular office hours when your records are available.
All patients are encouraged to call with any questions they have regarding a medical problem or prescriptions. For answers, you may call our office at 215-741-3141. It is important to note that these are for routine questions and not emergencies. Results for tests that have been performed should be available approximately one to two weeks after the test. For this reason, please wait at least one week before calling the office for results.
Before You Leave
Our doctors will make every effort to carefully diagnose your problems and treat you with appropriate interventions. It is very important when you leave our office, that we have answered four important questions regarding your illness:
What is wrong?
What should be done about it?
What caused it?
How long will it take to get better?
Our doctors and their staff will make every effort to answer these questions and any others you may have.
Although health insurance is designed to help you meet the cost of medical services, it seldom covers the entire cost. The primary responsibility for payment, therefore, rests with you. Your policy is a contract between you and your insurance company, not between your doctor and the insurance company. We will provide you with the necessary information and will assist you whenever possible. Some companies pay fixed allowances for certain procedures and others pay a percentage of the charge. It is your responsibility to pay any deductible amount, co-insurance or other balance not paid by your insurance company.
