10 Years a Neurosurgeon – Nirav Shah MD

[EDOPHOTO]-9424038-thumbJuly 1st, marks a memorable day in my life. Ten years ago, on this day, I became a neurosurgeon. As I take a step back to process this fact, it is clear to me that the past decade has been a gift. A gift from my family members, who have stood by my side since I took the first step into this endeavor. A gift from my teachers and mentors, who helped me become who I am today. Most importantly, it is a gift and privilege to be able to contribute to society in such an impactful way.

Neurosurgery is a gift that has been and continues to be fruitful, not only as a career path, but as my passion. Over the course of the past decade, I have been able to care for patients in both dangerous and meaningful ways. There have been numerous challenges, but I am more grateful than ever for this precious opportunity to serve my community.

I am thankful to my family for their continued understanding and encouragement. In particular, I would like to recognize my wife, Neha, and sons, Rayan and Arin. Thank you for being my support system and thank you for all the sacrifices you have made that have permitted me to follow this path.

As a neurosurgeon and the medical director of Princeton Brain, Spine and Sports Medicine, I am proud to have the opportunity to work with all the hard-working and dedicated staff and my colleagues. Ultimately, my thoughts go to my patients with my respect. I want to thank each of you for your trust, and the honor and privilege of caring for you.
