University Medical Center at Princeton Donates Resources for Treatment of Ecuadorian National -June 18, 2007
On June 15, W. Japa, an Ecuadorian national, was successfully treated for a brain aneurysm thanks to a generous team of doctors and staff at

After a masive undertaking by locak family memebers, community leaders, and hospital staff, Japa obtained a medical visa to travel to University Medical Center at Princeton for treatment of an intracranial aneurysm - a bulging, weakened wall of an artery that supplies blood to the brain.
In a Thank You note to Dr. McLaughlin, Mr. Japa wrote
"Todos los dias doy gracias dios por haberme permitido conocer al mejor medico de el mundo Dr. McLaughlin."
Translation: "All of the days I am greatful to God for delivering me to the greatest doctor in the whole world, Dr. McLaughlin" - William Morocco Japa, Ecuador.

Bucks County Courier Times - March 26th 2007
The Integra LifeSciences Corp. of New Jersey, with the help of St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown, donated lifesaving surgical shunts to the St. Petersburg Institute for Trauma in St. Petersburg, Russia. Dr. Mark R. McLaughlin, a St. Mary neurosurgeon, coordinated the donation. McLaughlin and Dr. Victor Rudenko, chief of the department of neurotraumatology at the St. Petersburg Institute, have had a 10-year professional collaboration and friendship. New York City Marathon - November 5th 2006
Our very own Dr. Nirav Shah ran in the New York City Marathon on November 5, 2006, finishing at an impressive 5 hours and 15 minutes. Dr. Shah joined Christopher Reeve Foundation "Team Reeve." The Christopher Reeve foundation helps fund research that develops treatments and cures for paralysis caused by spinal cord injury and other central nervous system disorders.
Princeton Brain & Spine Care Physician Assistant travels to Peru with a Surgical Mission, October 2006
Tina Lisman, PA-C joined forces with many physicians and healthcare professionals in October as part of Global Health Ministry. These amazing people traveled to Chulucanas, Peru to provide free medical and surgical care to people who were in dire need. Not only did they provide education, free hearing devices and eye glasses, but they also provided a range of surgical treatment such as plastic surgery, general surgery, and gynecological surgery. Young Neurosurgeons Committee, April 2006
Dr. McLaughlin was honored by receiving the Public Service Citation from the Young Neurosurgeons Committee. This citation recognizes and honors the extraordinary efforts of a Young Neurosurgeon who, outside the traditional art and science of Neurosurgery, has served the public in an exemplary fashion and thereby brings greater benefit to mankind and greater honor to our specialty. Dr. McLaughlin’s patient, Sister Claire, was featured in an article titled "Searing Pain Stopped by Microsurgery." Sister Claire was selected as one of three winning entries into the Neurosurgical Patient stories initiative. Her story was also printed in a news release which was sent out during Neurosurgery Awareness week, April 22-27, 2006. Today, Dr. McLaughlin seeks to share his love of wrestling & instill similar values in over 50 children in the PAWS program. Baystate Medical Center Annual Report - 2000
Dr. McLaughlin was featured in an article about the miraculous recovery of Jesus Rodriguez from a cervical spine injury. Mr. Rodriguez suffered dislocation, fracture, and paralysis during a pool accident in his home. According to the article, Dr. McLaughlin was able to stabilize Mr. Rodriguez’s spine during a two-hour operation with the Baystate Medical Center Trauma Team, ER staff, and Surgery Department staff. Despite the slim chances of recovery, which were about 1 in 500, Mr. Rodriguez regained function in his arms and legs following the procedure and was soon able to walk again.
