The most common symptom of a Chiari malformation Is pain especially headache which is usually in the back of the head These headaches are usually brought on by neck extension or excessive straining such as sneezing, coughing or lifting heavy objects. Weakness can also be present such as decreased grip strength. Electric shock like sensations down the spine and leg stiffness. Patients can also have numbness in the hands or legs decreased sensation of hot or cold and unsteadiness on the feet
